It’s so cliché to say it, but time does change perspective. Whether it is hurtful words, or being left out, intense feelings will not feel the same, years later. Each time I’ve comforted one of my children, telling them they won’t always feel this way after a crushing disappointment, I know I’m speaking the truth, as problems are often so much smaller in hindsight.
